Maintenance Checklist
Kitchen:
- Empty trash and put in a new liner
- Long dust all high areas (check behind doors)
- Hand wipe fan blades and light fixtures
- Clean counters – pick up and wipe underneath everything
- Wash cabinet doors and wipe dust from tops of cabinet door hinges
- Wipe down kitchen table and chairs; place chairs uniformly around the table
- Clean microwave, inside and out
- Clean stove-top, burner grates, and knobs
- Clean and polish oven hood; clean top, under, and soak grease traps
- Clean oven, inside and out, including interior door glass; hand wipe floor under oven
- Fridge: wipe down tops, sides, handles, behind handles, and water catcher on refrigerator door
- Dishwasher: wipe down exterior; open and wipe down the top of the door
- Wash dishes in the sink if less than five
- Scrub and disinfect sink(s)
- Backsplash: wipe down; pay extra attention to the backsplash behind the stovetop
- Dust and wipe down between appliances and walls
- Wipe down countertop appliances such as toasters, toaster ovens, and stand mixers
- Fold dish towel(s) and hang on oven handle or place neatly on counter
- Check that stainless steel is oiled, dry and streak free
- Wash doors and door casings
- Spot clean walls, especially near trash can
- Clean switch plates and outlet covers
- Dust artwork and picture frames
- Clean windowsills, window tracks, and inside of windows
- Wash baseboards
- Wipe down both sides and underneath blinds and shutters with damp cloth
- Vacuum rugs and floor underneath

- Vacuum and mop floors; check for debris and cobwebs under cabinets; check corners of floors
Dry Rooms (Bedrooms, Offices, Living, Dining, Etc.):
- Empty trash and put in a new liner

- Hand wipe fan blades, chandeliers, and light fixtures
- Dust top to bottom; pick up items, wipe down surface, put items back
- Dust behind TV and wipe dusty cable boxes
- Wash doors and door casings
- Cobweb behind each door; check corners of each room for cobwebs and remove
- Wipe/dust lamps and lamp shades
- Clean glass on slider doors, inside and out
- Fluff and straighten pillows; straighten books and magazines
- Spot clean walls
- Clean switch plates and outlet covers
- Dust artwork, picture frames, and knick-knacks
- Clean windowsills, window tracks, and inside of windows
- Wash baseboards
- Wipe down both sides and underneath blinds and shutters with damp cloth
- Vacuum upholstery
- Vacuum vent covers (check ceiling)
- Clean mirrors
- Polish wood
- Make bed if client left clean sheets; strip bed and remake with fresh bedding; leave dirty bedding on top of washing machine or in laundry basket
- Vacuum along baseboards with edging attachment
- Vacuum rugs and floor underneath
- Long dust for cobwebs
- Vacuum floors, getting underneath beds and furniture when possible
- Mop hard floors; check corners for debris and buildup
Bathrooms:

- Cobweb behind doors and check corners
- Wipe down counters, pick up everything and wipe underneath
- Clean soap dish/dispenser (BE CAREFUL – it can be slippery)
- Clean and disinfect sink, wipe dry
- Polish faucet
- Clean mirrors, checking for streaks
- Dust shelves
- Wipe down artwork
- Scrub tub/shower (grout, walls, floor, shelves, door); wipe dry
- Polish faucet and fixtures in tub/shower
- Shine glass door
- Scrub and sanitize toilet, inside and out, including base and behind, and water hose
- Clean floor around toilet by hand
- Wash cabinet doors and wipe dust from tops of cabinet door hinges

- Vacuum along baseboards with edging attachment

- Wipe down windowsills, window tracks, and inside of windows

Before Leaving:
- Do a complete walkthrough of the house to make sure nothing was missed
- Be sure you have all your cleaning supplies
- Turn off all lights that should be turned off
- Turn off heat/air if you turned it on
